Ceiling Microphones in India

A ceiling microphone picks up speech from above, so the meeting table stays clear and nobody has to lean towards a device. Most are array microphones: many small capsules combined by beamforming, so one unit can cover a room and follow the people who are talking. This range covers ceiling arrays, hanging microphones and linear or table-top arrays from Shure, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica and Bose.

Coverage depends on the model. The Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling Medium covers up to 50 m² and the TeamConnect Ceiling 2 up to 80 m², the Shure MXA902 covers a 6 by 6 metre area and also includes a loudspeaker, and the Audio-Technica ATND1061 is built for corporate conferencing, classrooms and hybrid workspaces. Several models include onboard DSP for echo cancellation, noise reduction and automatic mixing, which can simplify the rest of the system.

Corporate AV supplies, installs and supports ceiling microphones across India. Tell us the room size, ceiling height and conferencing platform and we will recommend the right model, or request a quote for supply, installation and commissioning.

How to choose a ceiling microphone

Three formats cover most rooms. Start with how the room is built, how people sit, and whether the microphone needs its own processing.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions our clients ask before buying

If you don't see your question here, our consultants will gladly walk you through specifics on a discovery call.

What is a ceiling microphone?
A ceiling microphone is mounted in or on the ceiling and picks up speech from above, which keeps the table free of devices. Most are array microphones that use several capsules and beamforming to capture talkers across the room.
What is the difference between a ceiling array and a hanging microphone?
A ceiling array sits in or on the ceiling and covers a zone of the room with beamforming, for example the Shure MXA901 or the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2. A hanging microphone is suspended on a cable above the talkers, for example the Audio-Technica ES954 for conference rooms or the PRO 45 for choirs and stages.
How much of a room does one ceiling microphone cover?
It depends on the model. The Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling Medium covers up to 50 m², the TeamConnect Ceiling 2 up to 80 m², and the Shure MXA902 captures a 6 by 6 metre (20 by 20 foot) area. Check the product page for each model, and send us your room size for a recommendation.
Do ceiling microphones include echo cancellation?
Some do. The Shure MXA901 has onboard IntelliMix DSP that reduces echo and noise, and the Audio-Technica ATND1061 has built-in DSP with automix, acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, automatic gain control and EQ. Other models are designed to feed an external processor, so check the specifications for the model you choose.
Which brands of ceiling microphones do you supply?
We supply Shure, Sennheiser and Audio-Technica ceiling, hanging and array microphones. The Bose AVM-1 Sense is also listed here, but it is a reference microphone that feeds ambient noise data to compatible Bose sound processors rather than a conferencing microphone.
Do you install ceiling microphones in India?
Yes. Corporate AV supplies, installs and supports these microphones across India. Request a quote for supply, installation and commissioning and tell us your room size and ceiling type.
