Absen SA Series: Indoor Rental and Touring LED Video Wall

The Absen SA Series is an indoor LED video wall for rental, staging and touring, with 500 x 500 mm and 1000 x 500 mm magnesium die-cast panels in pixel pitches from 1.5 mm to 3.9 mm.

Absen calls it a hexagonal warrior: it combines a lightweight durable cabinet, strong image quality, flexible SA, SA-B cube and SA-C flexible panels, shared components and a fast locking system.

A family of panels that work together

The SA series covers flat walls, corners, cubes and curves. SA panels come in P1.9, P2.6 and P3.9 (P1.5 as the SA1.5 COB model). SA-B cube panels let you build L-shapes and five-sided cubes, and SA-C flexible panels bend from -30° to +30° in 1.25° steps, forming curves, S-shapes and cylinders from 1.91 m diameter. Panels of the same pitch share optoelectronic performance so mixed shapes stay visually uniform.

Image quality for stage and camera

The SA series has a 160° viewing angle and uniform brightness. Absen lists a 99.9% DCI-P3 colour gamut (P2.6, Brompton), 7,680 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz frame rate (P2.6), and the SA1.5 COB model adds ultra-low reflectance (SCI-SCE below 0.4%) for on-camera performance.

Quick to rig and tour

A die-casting magnesium cabinet with carbon-fibre tube reinforcement keeps the 1000 x 500 mm panel at 9.5 kg. The fast locking system and auto-magnetic cabinets allow one-person installation, hanging reaches 10 m and stacking 5 m, and dollies carry 10 panels of 1000 x 500 mm or 20 panels of 500 x 500 mm. Modules and power boxes swap in moments.

How to choose the right size and pixel pitch

Pixel pitch is the distance between neighbouring LED pixels: a smaller pitch gives a sharper image that can be viewed from closer. As a common industry rule of thumb, the minimum comfortable viewing distance in metres is roughly equal to the pixel pitch in millimetres, so a 2.5 mm pitch suits viewers sitting about 2.5 m or further away. For indoor stages and event backdrops, P2.6 and P3.9 suit audiences several metres away, while P1.5 and P1.9 suit close viewing, presenters on camera and virtual production.
